We wondered if the restaurant only catered to men upon reading "We Offer Him the Specialty of the House." We did not try the second item, called "Pasture," so we still have no idea what that was. The heading after the second row of items, "Plates National Meat of He/She Calls or Head" was quite puzzling and looking at the first two plates listed below it confused us more: "Chop Male" and "Mounted Loin."
We decided to go with pizza, figuring that there could be no miscommunication about such a widely known dish and although the taste was not the best, we knew what we were eating.

Usually with these kinds of mistakes it is fairly simple to work out what was meant, but not here.

This is fantastic. Most of it is just absurd, can't even begin to understand what they must have meant. Language mix-ups are such fun.

ReplyDeleteHilarious! I've loved some of the signs that we have seen in Latin America. This one though I think wins. I'm guessing pasture was supposed to be pasta. But chop male and mounted loin? no clue. And what about the bowl full of cream, haha. Think you made the safe choice with pizza.

ReplyDeleteI think you're correct on the "Pasture," although at the time I was think about the meat that was placed on top...some kind of animal that grazes on the pasture. It's these kinds of uncertainties that steer one away from that menu choice.
